The Gold Coast is now host of several winning Craft Beer Breweries!
Black Hops Brewing - Burleigh Heads
When 3 mates met up for a beer and talked about brewing an ‘Eggnog Stout’, they walked away thinking it was ‘pub’ talk that would never eventuate, yet they were so very wrong! Well the Eggnog Stout was a hit and in just two short years, Black Hops Brewing were supplying Craft Beer bars all over the Gold Coast and have recently opened their Cellar Door in Burleigh Heads.
Black Hops Brewing like to do things ‘differently’ from the rest, documenting their business journey online and revealing some of their most sensitive information such as revenue to their audience, and by being ‘different’ absolutely helped Black Hops Brewing achieve 9th place out of 120 specialty beers in the Peoples Choice Awards at the 2016 GABS (Great Australian Beer Spectacular).
The showcased beer was the ‘Assault Trifle’, including the usual ingredients along with some spongecake, toasted coconut, sherry, jelly, peach and fresh mango, with the end product tasting like a trifle you would enjoy with your family at Christmas time. So if you are looking to try a brew that is great and a little ‘different’ drop into the Tap Room, located at the brewery and try the 'Eggnog Stout - 5.3%' that started this journey, or the newly released Hornet IPA – 6% for some serious sting!
