We have found every craft beer and cider lovers dream right here in Brisbane.  The Charming Squire is nestled in the busy streets of South Brisbane, it's the ideal place to have a drink to start the night, or those lunch or after work catchups with friends and family.

Also a working brewery, they have taken advantage of showcasing the vats behind glass windows to keep with that brewery feeling.  The drinks menu is extensive…. if you want it, they will have it!   There is a number of craft beers and ciders available straight off the tap which you won’t find in many other places, and if the selection is too much and you don’t know where to start , then give the tasting paddle a whirl which samples any four James Squire beers.

The atmosphere is sophisticated, warm and inviting, it will ‘charm’ you from the minute you walk in.  If you are considering ordering a meal you can watch it being made from through the glass windows infront of you, which is an experience in its own.

With function rooms available the Charming Squire can also be the perfect venue to hold your upcoming function. So gather your mates, kick back and listen to some live music, and enjoy the great display of obbers on tap! See the beer list at The Charming Squire website >>

The Gresham Bar - CBD

When Best Bars In decided to take a walk down Gresham Lane, which is just about opposite the GPO, we noticed the now known street lamp in front of two old cedar doors. Behind these doors you will find one Brisbane’s best and now most award winning bars, specialising in Whisky and Bourbon,  and a good selection of craft beers on tap for the beer lovers.

This place just oozes history, and when you walk through the doors, you will understand what we mean. You will find yourself set back in time, everywhere you look, the décor is simply impressive, especially the bar fitted with a rolling ladder to reach all those amazing spirits, this is the ideal spot for a late night drink. Take a peek at their website and read the history for yourself. www.thegresham.com.au >>

Craft Brew House - Birkdale

We stumbled across this little gem, located only 25 minutes from the CBD. It was like hearing a myth "hey, there is this fantastic new craft beer house opening soon out towards the bay!". So off to investigate we did, and WOW, this place brings the true craft beer vibe to the suburbs! With a great selection of rotating craft beers on tap and flavour education to accompany them, your time here will be well spent!

So what else impressed us so much about this place.... well apart from the staff and the buzz this place oozes on Sunday afternoon, it has to be the food! Who doesn't like a good old hand stretched pepperoni pizza or a cheesy garlic bread with some passion thrown in? These guys have hit the nail on the head with this, and i'm sure very soon, the word will be out. The best way to describe this little gem is 'a big family'. So drop in to the Craft Brew House and join the family for some tasty treats and a few ales!

The Laneway - CBD

They say a secret should not be told…. but this is one that is worth spilling the beans over!  This best kept secret is tucked away down Spencer Lane in the heart of Brisbane CBD, and though it may be tricky to find initially, it's worth the hunt to find the prize.  “The Laneway” is part of the award winning Urbane Group and is located above the Euro and Urbane restaurant complex.

This funky bar is a popular ‘go to’ venue for 5pm drinks after a long slog at work, if you need a pep up make sure you try the Popcorn Espresso Cocktail.  If cocktails aren’t your cup of tea (or coffee in this case), there's a large selection of craft beers, boutique wines or spirits to choose from, mixed with some of the gourmet bar food you won’t be needing to head home in a hurry.

If you have ever been interested in learning more about the art of Cocktail Making or Whiskey varieties, then speak to one of the lovely bartenders.  The Laneway bar is renowned for their drinks classes and is the perfect setting for corporate events, groups of friends, or that sneaky after work drink.

Now I bet you agree with me now….  Some secrets are worth sharing! The Laneway website >>

Dutch Courage Officers' Mess - Fortitude Valley

If you are a Gin lover, we have found the perfect bar for you!  Would you believe us if we say they serve over 120 different gins?  With great drinks and good food,  the atmosphere and vibe it gives off, tops it as one of the Best Bars that we have found in Brisbane.

Dutch Courage Officer’s Mess brings a touch of the 19th Century Colonial to the hip Fortitude Valley, cleverly thought out and set over two levels, the mezzanine, vintage furniture, safari memorabilia and potted palms really set the theme.

The main bar on the lower level is the spot to share a craft beer or cocktail with friends, and have a boogey to the beats that the DJ is throwing out over the weekends.  The varieties of Gin available is impressive and will be sure to turn anyones head.  Be daring and try the Hoxton Grapefruit & Coconut Gin or the Opihr Oriental Spice with hints of dry spice and the warmth of black pepper.

If your stomach is grumbling for a feed, then head upstairs to the mezzanine which is a more intimate bar, grab a table and order a meal, the Wild Boar Cheeseburger Sliders are a popular choice, followed by the Wild Mushroom Aricini. So pluck up some dutch courage and visit this bar, you won’t be disappointed, or checkout their website if you can't wait any longer. Website >>
